As any other natural material, leather is porous and so it absorbs water and other liquids quickly. If you have poured water on leather, don’t be afraid - it will dry soon and restore its color. Do not use electric dryers to fasten this process. The only thing that is allowed is a piece of absorbent cloth that will be helpful in restoring leather patina.
If you need to remove a spot from your leather furniture, do not clean entire arm or cushion; try to apply your efforts to affected area only. Mild ph neutral soap (f. ex. ivory one) and water will help you. Do not apply polish or wax on your leather furniture. Use water, cloth and soap to remove dirt, then take a clean sponge to rinse the surface and dry leather with a towel. If your furniture is made from suede leather, water or any other liquids are not recommended. Just brush suede and then vacuum.
Leather is a natural material, so it’s not resistant to sunlight. Do not place any leather furniture under direct sun rays as it will steadily lose its color. If there’s much light all day long in your room, you need either choose fabrics cover or invest money into shades, blinds or shutters.
Suede leather is more likely to become dirty and it’s definitely harder to wash, so it’s not the best idea use it for everyday newspaper reading or as a place where children play.
